Every custom shortcode below exports as literal square brackets. The receiving system has no idea what any of them mean.
An enclosing shortcode wraps content that must survive even if the wrapper is dropped. A regex that strips shortcodes greedily eats the sentence along with the brackets.
A self-closing shortcode with attributes, resolving against another post entirely:
Cacio e pepe
- 400 g tonnarelli or spaghetti
- 200 g Pecorino Romano , finely grated
- 4 tsp black peppercorns , coarsely cracked
- Toast the pepper in a dry pan until fragrant. Add a ladle of pasta water and let it reduce to a syrupy pool.
- Cook the pasta two minutes short. Keep the water -- it is an ingredient.
- Off the heat, mix the pecorino with just enough warm (not boiling) pasta water to make a thick paste.
- Toss the drained pasta into the pepper pan, then add the cheese paste off the heat, tossing hard. Loosen with more water until it coats.
Unit conversion, which is arithmetic rather than text: 8.82 oz and 6.09 floz.
And the genuinely unanswerable one — a shortcode with no fixed output, because it depends on the month you are reading it in:
There is no correct static HTML for that block. Freezing today’s answer produces a page that is wrong for eleven months of the year, and wrong without saying so. Copyright 2026 A Food Lover.
